Our vision is to empower LGBTQIA+ individuals to pursue the trades through scholarships that provide financial support and essential services. By reducing barriers, we aim to foster belonging and help build a more inclusive, diverse workforce. About: A partnership between Build With Pride Seattle, GSBA, and ANEW, the Built With Pride Scholarship supports LGBTQIA+ individuals in Washington State pursuing careers in the trades. By removing financial and systemic barriers, this initiative is helping to build a more inclusive, empowered workforce — from the ground up. LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies in the trades often face unique challenges: discrimination, isolation, and a lack of visible representation. These obstacles can limit access to training, advancement, and a sense of belonging. The Built With Pride Scholarship provides not only financial support, but also access to vital resources and services — creating pathways to opportunity, connection, and long-term success in the industry. Open to LGBTQIA+ apprentices enrolled in or enrolling in ANEW programs.
ANEW offers high-quality, pre-apprenticeship training programs that help individuals obtain careers in construction trades. We partner with many registered apprenticeship programs in the Seattle area and expose students directly to their training facilities. These training partners explain their industry, teach technical and math-related lessons, and emphasize the importance of fitness.
As a graduate of ANEW, you will receive direct or preferred entry into a construction apprenticeship program. You will also receive placement assistance and retention services for two years. Click below to learn more and join an informational session!
GSBA is Washington State’s LGBTQ+ and allied chamber of commerce and is the largest of its kind in North America. They represent small business, corporate, and nonprofit members who share the values of promoting equality and diversity in the workplace.
GSBA proudly serves as a connector across the region, bringing the community together through business while advocating for civil rights and small business, promoting LGBTQ+ tourism, and investing in the next generation of leaders through the GSBA Scholarship & Education Fund. As GSBA Scholarship has expanded into workforce-focused educational support, it has opened up opportunities to partner with fellow nonprofits, such as Build With Pride Seattle, and training programs to truly expand our reach.
